Chia seeds are a nutrient powerhouse and superfood rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc which are essential for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) sufferers.

Benefits of Chia Seeds Consumption for Women’s Health and Fertility

“Rich in omega fatty acids and fibre, regular consumption of these seeds helps women with hormonal fluctuation, mood swings, and metabolic syndrome. Also, it improves testosterone levels and helps enhance the quality of eggs inside the ovary to improve fertility. Chia seeds are also known to aid in regularising one’s periods,” said Dr Siddhant Bhargava, Fitness and Nutritional Scientist, Co-Founder- Food Darzee. “However, moderation is the key, eating more than what is required for your body can lead to side effects including digestive issues. Start with consuming 28 grams of chia seeds per day and assess your tolerance before slowly increasing your intake.”

Dr Bhargava proposes soaking or combining chia seeds in water to make a jelly-like consistency and using them in smoothies, soups, cereal, and other recipes. “It is important to remember that lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and practicing mindfulness are some of the most effective solutions to manage PCOS,” he said.

Today, we bring you a dessert dish that you may enjoy guilt-free. Dietitian Mac Singh posted the recipe, claiming that it is PCOS-friendly because it is gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free.
