Teresa Taylor, a former drummer for Texas psychedelic noise merchants Butthole Surfers, died of lung illness complications on Monday at the age of 60. “Teresa Taylor passed away peacefully this weekend after a long battle with lung disease,” the group wrote in a Facebook statement. Taylor’s companion, Cheryl Curtice, also verified the news, writing, “Teresa passed away clean and sober, peacefully in her sleep, this weekend.” Even in the face of her terrible disease, she was very brave.

Teresa Taylor revealed her lung disease on Facebook

Teresa Taylor has lung sickness and revealed it in a Facebook post in November 2021. She stated that she was living alone in an apartment and that she found it easy to keep things ordered. She went on to say:

“I have mega cable and my t.v. is mounted to swivel. I have all the products and food that I need delivered. I still see my Neuro-Shrink Doc. This new doc is round the clock oxygen tank. She gives me one to five expectancy, end stage lung disease.”

Taylor made another post in November 2022, revealing that her death was imminent but that she was feeling better after reading the comments she had received. People recognized her despite her imperfections, and she has always strived to live a cool life. She went on to say:

“I received a loving message from Paul and spoke on the phone with King and Gibby. It’s all been a blast. Like I said before, you guys are my real family. Ciao.”

Taylor had previously been diagnosed with an aneurysm and required brain surgery in 1989. She was also having seizures as a result of the strobe lights.

Teresa Taylor, who was born on November 10, 1962, used to play drums in several high school bands. She also starred in Slacker, which was released on July 5, 1991.

Taylor joined the Butthole Surfers during a jam session with singer Gibby Haynes in 1983. However, due to health concerns, she was forced to depart the band in 1989.

Butthole Surfers released eight albums between 1997 and 2001 before going on pause in 2016. However, the band’s seventh album, titled Electriclarryland, was a commercial triumph, reaching the 31st spot on the US Billboard 200.
