Mark Labbett has made headlines over the last couple of months after showing off his slimmer physique. The Chaser has always been very open about his weight loss struggles and recently spoke to ITV’s Loose Women about how he has managed to keep off the weight.
“I was 29 stone in my last year as a full time teacher in 2003, and I was on the verge of getting high blood pressure pills, I’ve been mainly at about 25 or 26 up until probably just before the lockdown, and then a few things happened quite nicely and came together and the weight’s just fallen off.”
Asking how he’s achieved such a huge transformation, the 55-year-old said: “I’m on a high protein diet with the good people at Muscle Food so eating an awful lot of lean meat and much as I love chips and other carbs, I am having quite a bit less than I used to.
“I’m not feeling that hungry so you eat less so you lose weight so you’re not as hungry.
“I’m not a drinker but sugar has always been my downfall. A good friend of mine who had the gastric band said it won’t do any good for me as I get all my calories by sugar, and it’s too easy to digest.

Weight loss: Hunger can be mistaken for thirst – how to drink more [EXPLAINER]
“I still have sugar but an awful lot less, I should have less still.”
According to Healthline, replacing carbs and fat with protein can help slimmers to reduce the hunger hormone and boost several satiety hormones.
The website said: “This leaders to a major reduction in hunger and is the main reason protein helps you lose weight. It can make you eat fewer calories automatically.”
Cutting down on sugar is also a huge help when it comes to shedding the pounds.
The NHS advises that added sugars, such as table sugar, honey and syrups should not make up more than five percent of the energy you get from food and drink each day.

This equates to just 30g a day for anyone over the age of 11. For comparison, a can of 330ml Coca Cola contains a staggering 35g of sugar which is around nine teaspoons.
Regularly indulging in foods high in added sugars can cause you to gain excess body fat very quickly which is often very hard to lose, even with exercising.
The Chase star has also been keeping his social media followers up to date with his progress.
Sharing before and after photos last month, Mark wrote: “Very proud of my progress since following my @mfgoalgettersuk plan.
“Every week food delivered to my door, it couldn’t be any easier!”
Mark credits Muscle Food UK’s Goal Getters meal plan with his weight loss.
In January, he wrote on Instagram: “Leaner, meaner lockdown with good folks of Muscle Foods. At this rate I will be the skinniest Chaser.”
His weight loss also hasn’t gone unnoticed by his fans.
Commenting on his photo, one person said: “Omg, you look amazing, so much healthier!”
Another wrote: “Wow, you’re inspirational, look at you!”
