Four years ago Dyson unveiled the original Dyson Airwrap and, seemingly overnight, the product went viral. Superfans have been waiting with bated breath for the upgraded Dyson Airwrap second generation, which was announced in March, and it’s finally available for purchase starting today. The Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete comes with a handful of improvements and upgrades; most notably, compatibility with more hair types and textures and multiple included attachments. Keep reading for everything you need to know about the hair-care launch. But hurry, we have a feeling it’s going to sell out quickly once the TikTok crowd gets their hands on it.

At the heart of the technology is the phenomenon you’ll hear a lot on Dyson’s site: Coanda. Essentially, it’s the use of a fast and high-pressure motor that allows Airwrap owners to curl, wave, smooth, and dry their hair without intense heat—while also cutting down styling time. According to Dyson engineers, it occurs when air, at just the right speed and pressure, naturally follows an adjacent surface, carrying along with surrounding air—and hair.

What improvements were made for the Dyson Airwrap Second Generation?

This upgrade from Dyson comes with a lot of newness. The original Airwrap came with a Flyaway attachment and a separate dryer. The second generation combines both in the new Coanda dryer attachment, so you can dry and smooth in one go. The brand also improved the airflow in the brush attachments, allowing for even more efficiency in your hairstyling routine. Lastly, the Airwrap barrels that made the product famous now rotate both clockwise and anti-clockwise, removing the need to switch attachments mid-use. This creates a more natural-looking style—without the extra effort.

This iteration of the Airwrap offers cool tips on each attachment, which means less extreme heat and less damage to your hair. And, perhaps most exciting, the new version is customizable based on your hair texture and type—including one specifically for tight curls and coils; a win, however small, for beauty inclusivity.

What comes with the styler itself?

Well, it depends on which one you buy. Each Airwrap Complete comes with six attachments based on your hair length and texture. There are three different models of the updated version: Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete, Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete Long (for long hair), and the Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete Curly/Coily. Included in each are the Coanda smoothing dryer, volumizing brush, 1.2″ and 1.6″ curling barrels, and a firm smoothing brush. The Airwrap Multi-Styler Complete Long has longer barrels to accommodate chest-length or longer hair, and also includes a soft smoothing brush. The curly/coily hair tool includes a wide-tooth comb attachment for detangling and styling with no snags. Each comes packaged in a luxe deep blue carrying case.

The improved hair styler promises to tackle frizz for different hair types through its new attachments and reengineered Dyson technology to give you an at-home blowout in a fraction of the time. Though it comes at a steep price of $599, if you’re someone who has multiple hair gadgets strewn around your bathroom or shells out good money for weekly salon appointments, this upgraded Airwrap could be your new holy grail.
