The Wiggles’ Emma Watkins appeared on Carrie Bickmore’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer special episode of The Project on Tuesday night. 

And afterwards, the performer explained what an emotional experience it was, while paying tribute to her late grandmother. 

The 30-year-old appeared in a video link with a number of other guests to help raise funding for cancer research, and explained that she struggled not to cry.

Sharing a photo of herself and her nan to Instagram, Emma wrote:  ‘Tonight I learned so much about brain cancer from Carrie Bickmore’s leadership through awareness from her own family battles. 

‘#carriesbeaniesforbraincancer on tonight’s episode @theprojecttv enveloped me in so much emotion, I was trying hard not to cry on the live Zoom. 

‘Seeing and hearing the stories of so many families who have endured hardship and loss from this tragic disease.’

Emma went on: ‘Made me think of my Nana, the anniversary of her passing was yesterday to cancer. 7yrs ago, still one of the saddest moments. 

‘Sending love to all, especially during this time,’ she concluded.

On Instagram Stories, the singer revealed she had traded her trademark bow for one of Carrie’s beanies.   

The Project’s Waleed Aly, Peter Helliar and Tommy Little joined forces with host Carrie Bickmore on Tuesday night, all donning Beanies 4 Brain Cancer headwear. 

Carrie created Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, after she dedicated her Gold Logie to her first husband Greg Lange, who died of brain cancer in 2010.
