The key to a long-lasting marriage, according to these centenarians? They never argue, and their daughter Jo attests to it! Of course, everyone has little disagreements every now and then, but June and Hubert actively try to “never criticize each other,” Hubert says. He adds, “Whenever she smiled, all of those problems would go away” (via The Washington Post).

The Ohio lovebirds even share the same birthday month. In July of this year, June turned 100 on the 13th and Hubert followed on the 23rd, according to the New York Post.

The couple is arguable cute beyond words, as WWII vet Hubert shares with TODAY Parents, “We didn’t go through life without problems, but we would never do anything to hurt each other,” explaining they realized in the early stages of marital bliss that taking a moment to step away from a situation works pretty effectively. He explains, “If there’s controversy, you might have to walk away for a couple minutes. Then you come back in and change the subject or you work it out.” Solid advice from someone who’s clearly a master at maintaining a long-lasting marriage!

The couple’s romance started many years ago at church. Hubert went with a friend and remembers, “We slid into that pew, and the view in front of us was full of girls. One of them turned around, looked at me and smiled. That started the whole thing.” He adds, “I often wondered how our life would have turned out had she not smiled.” What was June thinking at the same time? She tells The Washington Post, “He was so handsome. I just fell for him.”

Is your heart melting yet? Because ours are! The Malicotes are pure inspiration and #couplegoals.
