Tom Parker‘s widow Kelsey broke down in tears on Tuesday as she revealed how she’s coping with her grief, after his death from brain cancer in March.

In a candid series of Instagram stories, Kelsey, 30, said she was having an ’emotional day’ and said that despite being in tears, she has to put on a brave face for their children.

Kelsey went on to describe grief as a ‘rollercoaster of emotions’ and said that brain cancer ‘tore their world apart’.

‘Just thought I’d jump on, I’m having a bit of an emotional morning again,’ Kelsey began in a clip.

‘Um this is all I can describe grief as, it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, one day I wake up and I’m really, really happy and other days like today, I wake up just not happy.’

‘I just feel so sad for my life and my kids’ life, because all Tom wanted to do was be a husband and dad and he didn’t get that opportunity and I want to raise as much awareness for brain cancer as I can.’

She added: ‘It tore my world apart, our world apart and having a morning… ultimately I’ve got to go and be a mum now for my children.’

Kelsey also shared a video on her Instagram page, which appeared to be from Tom’s documentary Inside My Head.

‘Our story, If you can, please support Stand Up to Cancer UK. It was so important to Tom to share his story to help support this cause, and I’m grateful to carry this on for him,’ she wrote.

Kelsey broke down in tears at the National Television Awards on Thursday night as a clip was shown from Tom’s documentary Inside My Head – which was nominated in the Best Authored Documentary category.

Inside My head missed out on winning the gong after Kate Garraway’s Caring for Derek scooped the prize in that category.

But Kelsey said it was a chance to honour his legacy.

Posting an old snap of her and Tom on Friday, Kelsey detailed the awards evening to her 368k followers, penning: ‘Just wanted to say thank you for all your support & votes for the NTAs. My inbox is full with lovely messages.

‘Yesterday was a big, overwhelming day. Walking the red carpet solo – another first without Tom. As always I got my positivity on and went for it. Grateful to have had Tom’s parents and The Wanted boys by my side.

‘We may not have won but we still got a chance to celebrate Tom’s legacy. No matter the result he’ll always be our winner ❤️ #PositiveParkersForever.’

Kelsey recently revealed she will front an ITV documentary exploring grief and following her life since The Wanted star’s death from brain cancer.

Kelsey Parker: Life After Tom will see her allow cameras into her home to follow her very personal journey with grief as she hopes to connect with people in similar situations, including other famous faces.

Throughout the six-part ITVBe series, Kelsey try out death cafes, grief yoga and other methods of coming to terms with loss, exploring her bereavement as she tries to rebuild her life without her husband.

She revealed she is currently in the middle of filming as she described it as a ‘rollercoaster ride’ but shared her hope that the series can help other people.

The documentary will unflinchingly look at bereavement and will confront death with compassion, empathy, emotional frankness and some humour, according to a description.

WHAT IS GLIOBLASTOMA BRAIN CANCER?

Glioblastoma is considered the most aggressive tumor that can form in the brain

Patients have a 10 percent chance of surviving five years after their diagnosis, according to figures. The average lifespan is between 14 and 16 months

Three adults per every 100,000 will be struck down with a glioblastoma, says The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)

It is most commonly found in men aged 50 to 60, and there is no link between developing glioblastoma and having a previous history with other cancers

The tumor is made up of a mass of cells growing quickly in the brain, and in most cases patients have no family history of the disease

It won’t spread to other organs, however, once it is diagnosed, it is nearly impossible to target, surgeons claim

Surgeons will only ever remove the tumor, or part of the tumor, if it won’t do any damage to the surrounding brain tissue

Patients typically complain of symptoms such as confused vision, trouble with memory, dizziness and headaches
