When Tory Lanez comes up in conversation, it’s usually about two things — his music and his hair. The “Lady of Namek” singer has been open about his hair restoration process, which he told HipHopDx began after he noticed his hairline receding at the corners. “I fixed my corners and then I just let the rest of my hair grow in,” he told the outlet in 2019, adding, “Some parts grow a little faster than others, so it be a little unequal when I don’t lay it down.”

Fast forward to April 2020, when Lanez found himself trending on Twitter thanks to a now viral video of him that shows a visible bald spot on the back of his head. In the clip, the rapper climbs behind the wheel of a Lamborghini and says he says he feels “amazing,” but many of the comments below the video seemed intent on mocking the star. In response, the “Real Thing” singer defended himself against the internet trolls. “I’m fully aware of the bald spot in the back of my head guys,” he tweeted. “I rap about it all the time …it’s alopecia…. What’s the big deal[?]”

According to WebMD, alopecia is an “autoimmune disorder that causes your hair to come out, often in clumps the size and shape of a quarter.”
