Derrick James Wyatt died on December 26, 2021, after being born on August 10, 1972. He was a Paw Paw, Michigan-based character designer and illustrator.
One of his professors at the Joe Kubert School of Art in New Jersey, where he studied art, was José Delbo, and another was Kim DeMulder. He was later offered an internship at Spumco in California, which led to full-time employment at the company.
Derrick later left Spumco to work for Warner Bros. Animation on the comedy/wrestling series Mucha Lucha as a designer.

Who Is Derrick Wyatt Director?
Derrick Wyatt had been a longtime fan of the show, dating back to the first season. Prior to joining the crew for Omniverse, he and Matt Youngberg regularly discussed what they would do with the property.
He also contributed to Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, but largely on a freelance basis. He designed SevenSeven and provided concept art for Eagle, for example.

The animator examined most of the Omniverse figurines at various phases of development. He occasionally makes suggestions to Bandai in order for the toys to be more model-like. He also helped create several toys-only features, such as Toepick’s tentacle-covered visage.

He was one of the major minds behind Transformers Animated, a program that has become a fan favorite in the Transformers fanbase, among other things in his animation career. Derrick was a longtime admirer who became well-known for his work on the program.
