As battle ripped their nation aside, a pair of Ukrainian civilian troopers grew to become eternally bonded by love.
Dressed in army fatigues, Lesya Filimonova and Valeriy Filimonov have been married in Kyiv on Sunday — flanked by troopers armed with grenades and missiles and journalists in bulletproof vests, the Washington Post reported.
The emotional nuptials have been held at a checkpoint off the aspect of a busy street amid Russian’s blood-thirsty invasion of Ukraine.
The bride wore a veil along with her camouflage, the groom donned a army helmet — and each sported yellow armbands designating them as members of the nation’s Territorial Defense Forces.
The couple, who had not seen one another because the starting of the battle late final month, joined the army reserve “because here we have everything we love, and we have to defend it,” stated Filimonova. “We have no intention of giving it away to the enemy.”

The conventional Orthodox ceremony included spreading incense and a army helmet foisted over Filimonova’s head — in lieu of the customary crown.
The newlyweds’ daughter, Ruslana, 18, watched by way of video name.
“It is hard to call it unconditional happiness in this situation, but we surely feel uplifted,” the bride stated.
When the couple kissed, the gang erupted with patriotic fervor.
