An urgent recall has been issued for a popular type of beer sold in supermarkets across Australia amid fears they could explode.

Bright Brewery’s Pineapple Dream Nitro Milkshake Ale 355ml cans have been widely binned due to concerns a secondary fermentation could also result in an unsafe alcohol content exceeding 6.2 per cent for customers.

The Food Standards Authority recently issued the recall for all affected cans from the regional Victoria based brewery with an accompanying expiry date of November 5, 2021.

‘Our Pineapple Dream has turned into a Pineapple nightmare,’ Bright Brewery marketing manager Laura Gray said.

‘We really pushed the boundaries with this beer, adding 30 per cent pineapple juice to the brew, and every time you add a non-traditional ingredient to beer, you increase the risk of something going wrong.

‘It is also important to note that there is no health risk (to customers) if the beer has been consumed.’

The popular brewery beer is widely sold at retailers in the likes of NSW, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia.

No other beers from the brewery have been affected by the mass recall.

The Pineapple Dream Nitro Milkshake Ale can be purchased individually, in packs of four, a carton and as part of a mixed beer pack.

Customers have been encouraged to carefully dispose of any affected cans, with full refunds available.
