A House Republican turned the tables on Democrats on Thursday, when gun-control advocates were arrested inside the Capitol during a joint Judiciary and Oversight Committee hearing on firearms. GOP Chair Pat Fallon (Texas) mockingly compared the two-person protest to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
As reported by the Washington Examiner, reports from within the hearing room said one of the protesters, the parent of a student who was killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, accused the Republicans of taking her son away, and a man shouted “All of you are full of s**t” at the lawmakers.
Fallon was talking about gun-control laws in Mexico when the two protesters began to disrupt the hearing, prompting Fallon to ask Capitol Police to “arrest that woman.”
He remained perfectly calm, of course, and his mockery couldn’t have been better.
While officers escorted the woman out of the room, Fallon reminded people in attendance that those who engage in unruly behavior or disorderly conduct can be removed from the proceedings, and asked Capitol Police if they would hold the protesters to the same standard as those arrested during the Jan. 6 riot.
Is this an insurrection? I don’t want another Jan. 6, do we?

“Shockingly,” Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) blistered Fallon on Twitter, accusing the Texas Republican of “escalating” the situation, while pointing out that Manuel Oliver lost his son in the Parkland shooting.
Manuel and Patricia Oliver were just kicked out of this committee hearing on gun violence,” Frost tweeted. “Patricia said one thing and the chair escalated the entire situation. Then, Police arrested Manuel Oliver who lost his son in the Parkland shooting. The Chair should’ve given a warning. He completely escalated the situation.
Sorry, no. Although the Olivers suffered the tragic loss of a child, their loss didn’t give them license to interrupt a House hearing.

As noted by the Examiner, the joint hearing , titled ATF’s Assault of the Second Amendment: When is Enough Enough?, was focused on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives limiting the rights of gun owners.
RedState has written extensively on the overreach of the ATF, including:

The Bottom Line
The protest, like other gun-grabber protests, should rightfully be laid at the feet of the Democrat Party. Democrats have exploited every high-profile shooting, solely for the purpose of pushing stricter gun control and limiting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.
As has been the case with every other false narrative, willfully low-information, rank-and-file Democrat voters have bought the “gun violence” narrative, hook, line, and sinker.
And how many times have we said it? The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, whether that good guy be a law enforcement officer or a law-abiding citizen.
