Tanner Fox and Jose Lopez have been arrested for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Ripudaman Singh Malik in Surrey.
On the morning of July 14 in Surrey, British Columbia, Malik, 75, was shot multiple times outside his family’s shop, Papillon Eastern Imports.
The killing of Malik divided the Indo-Canadian society because of his controversial past. Malik was shot at 9:30 a.m, and according to the police, the vehicle with persons inside had been waiting for him hours before that.
The same car, a white Honda CRV, was later burnt not far from the shooting location. Police provided a picture and a video of the vehicle moving through a strip mall parking lot.
Still, they didn’t indicate how many individuals were inside because they didn’t want to “taint” prospective witnesses.
On June 23, 1985, Malik and his co-accused Ajaib Singh Bagri were not guilty of a crime and conspiracy concerning the Air India bombings.
