According to authorities, Alexis Gabe was the victim of a homicide. The perpetrator, her ex-boyfriend, was shot and killed after a confrontation with law officers on Wednesday in a Seattle suburb.

Gabe, a resident of Oakley, has been missing for over five months. On Jan. 26, the 24-year-old was last spotted in Antioch.

The whereabouts of Gabe’s body were not immediately known. During a news conference in Oakley on Thursday, officials revealed further details but stressed that the hunt for her is still underway. They went on to say that forensic, technological, and DNA evidence proved Gabe was murdered and that her previous lover, Marshall Curtis Jones, 27, was to blame.

The family of a missing Oakley woman gathered for her 24th birthday, as they continue the search for answers in her disappearance.

Meanwhile, Seattle police said a warrant was served at a property in Kent, Washington, where they suspected a “fugitive wanted for murder” was hiding out. Jones came out of the house wielding a knife when they knocked and identified themselves, authorities claimed, and a police detective, a sheriff’s deputy, and a U.S. Marshal shot him.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, the Antioch resident stayed with a friend who lived at the house.

He’s thought to be the lone suspect in Gabe’s death, but he may have received assistance in covering up her death after it occurred.
