Who is Amy Newall ?
An unrepentant mother of two raised her arms in celebration and enjoyed drinks at the pub, just minutes after escaping from jail for a drunken, foul-mouthed tirade against the police.
Amy Newall, 30, from Liverpool, was photographed punching the air with delight before downing pints of beer after her lawyer persuaded a judge to release her on the grounds that he was “sorry” for her behavior and had stopped for drink.
Arrested and Charged
The inmate was arrested in March for an expletive-laden, homophobic tirade against an officer as he was being led to a police station before abusing the rest of the officers as they were led into cells.
During her rampage, Ms. Newall head-butted the clear plastic perspex of a police van and spat on the ground telling a PC, “I’m going to break your head, you fucking grass, you fucking grass.” *****d. ‘You’re fucking dead, you little son of a bitch.’
Investigations revealed that he had a number of prior convictions and that he had previously served time in jail for assaulting a police officer.
At Sefton Magistrates Court Ms Newall of Bootle, Liverpool faced up to six months jail after she pleaded guilty to two charges of using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behavior to cause harassment alarm or distress.
But she was given an 18-month community order including a six-month alcohol rehabilitation program after saying she had a ‘multiplicity of problems’ and was getting treatment for her heavy drinking.

He was last in court in March for drunkenness, disorderly conduct and criminal damage, and was previously in prison for robbery. In 2016, an apartment where she was a tenant in Bootle was dubbed ‘Gang Headquarters’ after it was linked to shootings, stabbings and drug dealing. Police later successfully applied for a three-month lockdown order after a gun belonging to her father was seized on the property.
In mitigation for Ms Newall, attorney Rory McCormack said: “What may be significant is that after the defendant recovered in the cells, she apologized to the officers.” She expresses remorse and is very sorry for her actions when the effect of the alcohol wore off.
McCormack told the court that Newall had been drinking regularly for a long time, to the point that she was hospitalized for seizures.
He added: “She is now being prescribed Librium in connection with alcohol addiction and there is talk of a place available for her in a detox unit.” She tells me that she is cooperating with probation to the best of her ability, given her multiplicity of problems.

Mrs Newall was fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 in compensation plus £180 in costs and a victim surcharge.
District Judge James Clarke said: “These offenses were aggravated by being intoxicated, her prior conviction for a racially or religiously aggravated matter, and having had a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a police officer who was raped.” However, he did take note of her apology to the police, her expressed remorse for her, and the steps she has taken for her to deal with her alcohol problems.
