He was riding a bicycle and was hit by a car.
“He was an extraordinary man and a great doctor. He has influenced and trained many colleagues over the years and was very, very active at BAPRAS. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. ‘
A colleague wrote: “Niall was the best consultant to work with, he taught me a lot and became a great friend. He was kind, caring, patient, inspiring, and a lot of fun too. He made me a better plastic surgeon. ”

Another wrote: “Niall was one of the most sincere men to honor this land.”
A relative of one of his former patients stated: “Devastated by this news, I met Dr. Kirkpatrick and my daughter’s second surgery was scheduled for the end of this month.
“During our conversations he left the impression of a true gentleman with infinite sympathy. My condolences go out to his wife and his children. RIP Dr. Kirkpatrick. ‘
Neuropsychiatrist Dr. Alastair Santhouse wrote on Twitter: “I am heartbroken that my friend Niall Kirkpatrick has passed away.
“Besides being a surgeon, he had an artist’s eye and he was one of the kindest men I have ever met.”
Harley Street Eye Specialist Dr. Sabrina Shah-Desai described him as a “kind mentor” and a “classy person.” She added: “I have no words to express the sadness I have felt since hearing the news of Niall’s untimely death this week.”
Essex Police said emergency services were called around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. for reports of the collision with a car and two cyclists in Fairstead, Ess*x.
In a police statement it says: “We participated and unfortunately one of the cyclists, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.”
“The other cyclist suffered injuries to the face.”A 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having died of negligent driving and is currently in custody.
