Who is Brittany and Bethany Lee ?
Identical twins who covered themselves in gasoline and threatened to blow up a gas station have been jailed.
Brittany and Bethany Lee, 23, sparked a confrontation with police when they threatened to set themselves on fire alongside the Esso garage in Canterbury, Kent at around 3am. of April 10.
The pair only survived because their lighter broke before they could set themselves on fire.
Both Lee twins were jailed for more than three years at Canterbury Crown Court.
The twins were drunk when they pumped gas at each other using three different pumps at the gas station before telling police they were going to kill themselves.
Killing
Prosecutor Vishal Misra said during the case: “Officers learned that Bethany and Brittany were at the Lakeside gas station in Canterbury.
“They said in a phone call to the police that they planned to kill themselves and blow up the gas station.
Bethany Lee said she was looking to set herself and the Esso gas station on fire.
Misra said that 20 minutes after officers arrived at the garage, the twins threatened to set themselves on fire if police came near.
He added: ‘Bethany was seen with a lighter, trying to unload the lighter.’
After the flame failed to take hold, the twins fled and were arrested after a short chase.
A video played in court showed the twins pouring gasoline on themselves for about five minutes before verbally abusing police.
Garage personnel disabled the system so that only residual fuel flowed from the nozzles.
Body camera footage played in court showed officers describing a “strong smell of fuel” after arresting the girls.

Brittany, from Hudson Road, Canterbury, and Bethany, from Tyler Hill in Blean, had significant cuts and bruises on their faces when they appeared before the judge.
The court heard that Brittany has 26 convictions for 54 crimes and Bethany 14 convictions for 26 crimes.
They are for relatively minor crimes, such as being drunk and disorderly and railroad violations.
Psychiatrists said the twins had no psychiatric problems related to their behavior.
However, their lawyer said the two suffered from emotional instability from a young age and self-harmed together, with their actions escalating recently.
Phil Rowley, Bethany’s mitigator, said she had a “troubling and challenging” early life and pleaded guilty at an early opportunity.
Charlotte Oliver, mitigating for Brittany, echoed Mr Rowley’s points, adding that the twins have formed a “destructive alliance”.
Following the psychiatric reports, Judge Mark Weekes told the girls that their crime was “largely a desire for attention.”
And he added: ‘They ran the risk of killing themselves, of killing the other sister, or mutilating themselves, or the other sister, or those at the gas station.
“It must have been a very scary time for everyone involved.”
Brittany and Bethany pleaded guilty to reckless attempted arson as to whether life was in danger.
They were each jailed for three years and nine months at Canterbury Crown Court.
