Who is Charley Little ?

A learner driver has been jailed for killing his passenger after playing on his phone while drunk and speeding.

Charley Little, 25, received six years in prison after admitting he caused the death of young mother Tenisha Cooper, 23, for dangerous driving.

The defendant was driving a Vauxhall Astra on the M32 at around 2am on August 30 last year when her car crashed into a drainage ditch near Bristol.

Tenisha, a front seat passenger was killed instantly. Witnesses testified that Little had been holding his phone in front of his face and driving erratically before the accident.

Death

Tenisha Cooper, 23, was the front seat passenger in the crash and died instantly, leaving her two-year-old son behind.

Bristol Crown Court heard that Little initially claimed she was not driving and tried to blame the emergency services for her friend’s death and then Tenisha herself for causing the accident.

The driver was later found to be two and a half times over the legal limit for driving under the influence of alcohol and had only a provisional license.

He was not displaying ‘L’ plates on the vehicle and had no one in the car qualified to supervise her.

Forensic examinations discovered that she was on a call when her car left the roadway and was traveling at 83 mph.

Paying tribute at the time of her death, Tenisha’s family released a statement, saying her “hearts had been broken beyond repair”.

They said that she leaves behind a two-year-old son, whom she ‘adored’.

The statement added: “She will now grow up with very few memories of her beloved mother and an empty space that no one can fill.”

In a statement, the family also expressed devastation at the loss that family members were “struggling to process.”

“We cannot believe that such a beautiful young woman, who had the rest of her life ahead of her, has been taken from us so soon.”

The family also thanked friends and the Gloucester community after being “totally overwhelmed by the love and support”.
