Who is Cody Edwards?
The man accused of murdering a young mother of three in her home has been identified as her new boyfriend.
South Australian Police found the body of 26-year-old Synamin Bell at her home in Millicent, south-eastern South Australia, after police were called to the property shortly after 11pm on Saturday.
Detectives arrested 25-year-old Cody Edwards at the scene after he called police himself. The couple is understood to have recently started their relationship.
In a photo taken in recent weeks, Edwards smiled as he hugged Mrs. Bell, who wore thick-rimmed black glasses and had long hair tied behind her head.
He appeared via video link at Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he did not apply for bail. He should reappear in December.
Ms. Bell’s neighbor said that she saw her sitting on her front steps with another woman in the hours before her death.

“Synamin dreamed of giving his children the life and opportunities we all hope our children have before them,” a friend wrote on GoFundMe to pay for funeral costs.
“She had the goal of going into medicine to help (her daughter) through her struggles and to help her have the best chance at a fulfilling life.
“She was doing her best with limited resources and support, trying to be the best mother she could be.”
An elderly neighbor of Mrs. Bell said that she saw her sitting with a friend of hers on the doorstep of her Poole Street apartment around 7 p.m. and she went to bed around 11 p.m.
“We didn’t hear anything,” she told The Advertiser.

Edwards is believed to have crossed the street to tell a co-worker to call the police after Bell’s death.

“The first thing we knew was when we opened the shutters at half past seven in the morning and saw police cars and people everywhere.
When the police detective came to interview me today, he told me that the children were with his nanny when it all happened.
Forensic officers attended the home on Sunday and Monday as they investigate the circumstances of his death.
Edwards was taken by police to the Mount Gambier Police Station, where he will remain in custody until he appears in Mount Gambier Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He is believed to have crossed the street to tell a co-worker to call the police after Bell’s death.
Career
Mrs. Bell was remembered as a ‘loving mother’ looking to pursue a career in health care to help support her children.
A friend said the 26-year-old was studying health care to help care for her children.
“Losing your mother is something you never fully recover from, but losing her so young leaves these beautiful children with so much life to walk without her,” they said.
‘Your mother is your first and eternal friend, you never really get over that loss.
“I am heartbroken, devastated and in shock. She was just talking to you the day you were taken away,’ another friend wrote. ‘Synamin Bell, I love you forever darling, this life and the next.’
Police are expected to remain at the Poole Street house for several days to conduct a thorough forensic investigation.
