DeMar Darnell DeRozan was born on 7 August 1989 in Compton, California USA to parents Frank and Diane, and is a professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Prior to being selected by the Raptors, DeRozan played college basketball for the University of Southern California.

DeRozan had an average score of 29.2 ppg and 7.9 rpg in the senior year, and earned the Moore League Most Valuable Player Award, and became a member of the California All-State team, going on to win the All-American Slam Dunk Competition, and first-team Parade All-American honors among others.
In November 2007 DeMar enrolled into the University of Southern California, choosing it over Arizona State University and University of North Carolina. In his first game for the Trojans, DeMar starred in an 85-64 triumph. In his first career regular season game against the UC Irvine, he scored 14 points. However, in 2009 DeMar decided to enter the NBA Draft, being selected by the Toronto Raptors and signed a contract with them. Among many performances, in 2014 DeRozan scored 40 points against the Dallas Mavericks, and the same year was selected as a reserve guard for the NBA All-Star Game, achieving 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Only two days later, he scored a career-high 12 assists along with total 36 points in a match against the Portland Trail Blazers; at the end of the March 2014, his team beat the Boston Celtics in a playoff berth, DeMar scoring 30 points, but then losing to the Brooklyn Nets. The next season DeRozan was ruled out with a muscle injury, and his recovery lasted for the whole year, eventually returning in January 2015, scoring 20 points over the Philadelphia 76ers, then in a game against the Houston Rockets, DeRozan achieved 42 points, his career-high score, and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for April.
DeMar’s performance in 2015-16 season was up to the scratch and he eventually received public acclaim, awards and honors, being named Player of the Week and Eastern Conference All-Star reserve in addition to other rewards. DeRozan re-signed with a five-year $139 million contract in July 2016, but recovering from an ankle injury, DeRozan missed seven games in the 2016-17 season, returning to score 31 points helping the Raptors defeat the Los Angeles Clippers. Later scoring 35 points in defeating the New York Knicks took him over 2,000 points in one season, becoming the second player in the franchise’s history to accomplish that feat.
