Authorities identified the suspect in Judge Roemer’s murder as 56-year-old Douglas K Uhde.
Former Judge John Roemer was shot to death at his home in Wisconsin.
Suspect
This comes after officials found a “blacklist” of political figures Uhde was apparently targeting in the suspect’s vehicle.
Police responded Friday to the home of former Juneau County Judge John Roemer in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, after an armed suspect reportedly fired two shots inside.
Agents attempted to negotiate with the gunman, identified as Uhde, but their attempts failed and a SWAT team stormed the residence at 10:17 a.m. m., almost four hours after the first call.
Judge Roemer, who retired in 2017, was found strapped to a chair with a fatal gunshot wound, WISN reports.
Arrested and Charged
The 56-year-old man was found in the basement with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The DOJ discovered that Roemer was involved in a case that Uhde was involved in about 20 years ago.

Uhde pleaded no contest to robbery charges while armed with a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a short-barreled shotgun and possessing a firearm, court records show.
Charges were first brought against Uhde in 2001, but Roemer was not assigned to the case until February 2005.
Roemer sentenced Uhde to six years in state prison and nine years of extended supervision on the armed robbery charge, court records show.
Uhde remains in critical condition due to his apparent self-inflicted wound, police say.
Cops say they found a “hit list” in his vehicle that included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Officers believe Roemer’s 68-year-old son may have watched the attack unfold.
The case was investigated as a homicide and domestic terrorism case, ABC reported.
Authorities said the other targets on the apparent “blacklist,” who have not been publicly named, have been notified.
Police sources told WTMJ that Uhde is a member of a militia.
