He has now pleaded guilty to two counts of use of controlling and coercive behavior between March 1, 2019, and August 21, 2020.
He also admitted to stalking the woman, including hiding inside her closet, between August 19, 2020, and September 19, 2021, causing her severe alarm or distress.
His victim, a woman from Lydney, Glos., met Eyles on social media in March 2019.
He admitted to her that he was convicted in 2008 of causing actual bodily harm to a former partner by cutting his hair while he slept. He was also jailed in 2010 for 42 days for coercive conduct towards the same former partner.
Prosecutor David Maunder
Prosecutor David Maunder said he controlled his new girlfriend’s movements when he moved in with her at the start of the pandemic.
Maunder said he “got jealous of her having contact with other people,” including friends and family.
He looked at her phone, told her what to wear for her, and told her he “didn’t want her to look like a drag queen.”
He called her “stupid and uneducated” and forced her to “indulge in certain fetishes”.
The charges against her included repeatedly pulling her hair if she displeased him and insisting that she wear socks at all times and not expose her feet except when he told her to.

He also insisted that she perform intimate acts at her request and dictated when she washed, showered or bathed.
Victim
His victim spoke about the ‘momentous’ ordeal and urges others to speak up and seek support.
After sentencing, the victim said, “This entire experience, while momentous, has taught me a lot about bullying and its effects.
“Stalking isn’t just someone standing under a light outside her house, it’s small subtle events like texts, calls, flowers on her doorstep, streaming sites she sees being hacked and monitored.
“It’s invasive and scary. It can involve ex-partners but also neighbors or co-workers or strangers.
“Without reporting it, I feel that many others who experience bullying may become lost, confused and insecure if they are at risk, feeling that they will not be believed or taken seriously. But trust me they will.
Peter Binder of Eyles said: “He tried to improve women’s welfare by controlling her smoking and drinking.” He admits trying to influence his clothes, but denies that he was a dictator.
‘Basically I couldn’t let go. He put her needs before hers. He now recognizes that he has problems with her emotional makeup. It is hoped that when he gets out of prison he will get the care he needs from professionals.’
Detective Inspector Angela Middlewood said: ‘Eyles’ persistent and obsessive behavior was a form of abuse control.
“Her despicable actions of hers caused a significant amount of distress and harm to the victim, and I would like to commend her for her continued courage and strength throughout what has been a terrible ordeal.
