Police have a suspect in custody in the shooting death of 17-year-old Raelynn Cameron, who was shot at a Brooklyn home party earlier this month, police said Wednesday.

Javone Duncan, 22, is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the case, police announced.


Duncan was being held at the 75th Precinct Police Station in Brooklyn, police said. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday night or early Thursday.

Cameron, who lived in Far Rockaway, was found shortly before 11 p.m. on Oct. 11 in the lobby of a vacant East New York building where a group of people had been hanging out, police said.

Police officers who arrived at the scene found blood on a living room sofa in a sixth-floor apartment in the Eldert Lane building, the sources said.

A 9mm shell was recovered from the kitchen of the apartment.

Police said a trail of blood led from the apartment to the sixth-floor hallway and to the elevator, with security footage showing two men carrying Cameron into the lobby.

The injured girl was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police initially believed the shooting was accidental, but later ruled it a homicide.
