Jean-Louise Herholdt and her partner Sean Murray were heard screaming and banging on doors as the footage was played at Brisbane High Court on Tuesday.

She allegedly stabbed the father of three in the back with a 12-inch kitchen knife after arguing at a house on Murrumba Downs, north Brisbane.

The incident occurred after Murray took cash that Herholdt said she had been saving up to leave him.

“I hope you die, dog,” the nurse was heard saying on audio before she allegedly plunged the knife into his back, the Courier Mail reported.

Mr. Murray was heard to say, ‘no, stop, stop. Stop. Let’s go ‘, while he tried to calm her down, after assaulting her in front of a friend and neighbors.

A call to triple-0 ensued, revealing Herholdt telling her husband, ‘I love you, honey. I love you… you know I’m going to jail for this.’

Defense attorney Andrew Hoare described what was happening around the audio.

“In between those recordings, my client was being beaten in his front yard and then dragged back inside,” Mr. Hoare told the court.

Hoare said that Murray had been trying to appease his wife before the police arrived, which was his standard practice.

He allegedly locked the children in one of the bedrooms to prevent them from witnessing the fight between Herholdt and Mr. Murray.

Herholdt administered first aid to her husband after he was stabbed and told her ex-partner to call an ambulance.

The incident escalated that morning after Mr. Murray found a stash of money that Herholdt had secretly kept in her bedroom.

She had planned to use the “savings funds” to start a new life as Mr Murray controlled her financially, the court heard.

She had been a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband for years before the stabbing, the court heard.

The couple married in 2019, spent several years together as a couple, and had two children together.

Police say the father of Herholdt’s third child was also staying at the house at the time of the stabbing.

She was initially charged with murder, but prosecutors accepted a plea to the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter, accepting that her act had been motivated by rage without the intent to kill or cause grievous bodily harm to her husband.

Judge Peter Davis will sentence Herholdt at a later date.
