The assailant was identified as Jonathan Whitlatch, 33, of Boone. The fatalities have been identified as Eden Mariah Montang, 22, and Vivian Renee Flores, 21.
According to a news conference given by the local sheriff on Friday, the gunman hit them with a 9MM handgun after an argument with Montang.
