A Nampa man was arrested Monday night after police found a woman dead at his Middleton residence, the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Levi Isaac Davis, 26, was arrested by the Idaho Probation Department for second-degree murder and probation violation. On Tuesday, Davis was charged with second-degree murder.
The victim was Davis’ mother, Karly Cantrell. According to a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, he was the executive director of the West Valley Humane Society.
In a video hearing Tuesday, Canyon County Judge Matthew Thompson set bail at $5 million. According to Canyon Co. attorney Sean Jorgensen, Davis’s charge could amount to first-degree murder.

During the trial, the prosecutor said Davis stabbed Cantrell multiple times, including in the neck and abdomen.
“It is one of the scariest fact sheets I have had to read in my time in office,” Jorgenson told the court.
Canyon County deputies and Middleton Police Department officials found Cantrell dead in her apartment in the 100 block of East Murtaugh Lake Street in Middleton after receiving a 911 call around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Response units said Cantrell was killed by another person. Davis was arrested in Nampa at 11:15 p.m. Monday, after the investigation by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office.
