Loh Kean Yew Career As A Badminton Player
Loh Kean Yew claims that he started playing badminton with his brothers and neighbour at the entrance to their house when he was four years old.
After being bullied by his senior like a child, he gave up playing the sport at seven. At age nine, he picked up badminton again.
He advanced to join the Penang state squad after six months. Until the age of twelve, Loh received training from the Penang Badminton Association (PBA).
According to the PBA president, Loh and his third brother Loh Kean Hean were being trained by two Chinese instructors named Li Mu and Chao Yue nine times a week at their mother’s urging.
In the under-12 final, Loh defeated Malaysian competitor Lee Zii Jia to win the 2009 National Junior Grand Prix Finals.
Loh told his mother that he would stop attending school that year after turning 18 because he wanted to devote all of his time to badminton and become a professional athlete.
