                                  Mark Fagan Biography

Who is Mark Fagan?

Mark Fagan faced being expelled from the SNP for good for saying that Blair McDougall should be ‘hanging from a lamppost’.

The troll slammed the former Better Together campaign manager in a vile Twitter post, accusing him of being a “lying red Conservative.”

But the speechwriter said he did not expect the party to “lift a finger” and said it was not the first time he had been threatened.

The SNP later announced that it had suspended Fagan’s membership in the central Glasgow branch, saying “there is no place in politics for abuse”.

It comes at an awkward time for the party, with its Westminster leader over the weekend calling for ‘keyboard warriors’ to be removed from social media.

Fagan had tweeted:

Fagan had tweeted: ‘Tell us again about the benefits of voting no. Lying Red Tory. In fact, you brag about this, you should be hanging from a lamp post.

McDougall said on Twitter: ‘Wake up to another SNP member talking about executing me.

He says that he is in the same seat as two SNP politicians who follow me. I don’t expect them to lift a finger.

“No SNP member has had any of the other times I have shared SNP members posting fantasies about this. Just another day.’

He said that Fagan had “panicked and deleted his tweet about executing me,” he continued: “Unfortunately for you, the Internet is not written in pencil.”

In a thread on Twitter today, he said: ‘The papers this morning are reporting that the SNP member who posted about me hanging from a lamp post has been suspended.

‘Well. Now that they’ve set the precedent that it’s wrong to talk about executing your opponents (a low bar, I know), let’s test if they mean it.

He added to the Herald: ‘It is not enough to grudgingly suspend a member, and only when the media gets involved.

“We need to see SNP politicians on the record, speaking out against their own members who fantasize about executing their opponents, label them traitors and fill their social media profiles with hate.”

Shot

Over the weekend, Ian Blackford  fired a warning shot at ‘keyboard warriors’ as he called for those in and out of his party to be kicked out.

Over the weekend, Ian Blackford fired a warning shot at ‘keyboard warriors’ as he called for those inside and outside his party to be eradicated.

He told the Sunday Times: “Almost every MP I know from every party has been subjected to violent threats or death threats, some on a regular basis.”

He added: “It’s not long since the tragic deaths of David Amess and Jo Cox, and hardly a day goes by without threats of violence against politicians and large-scale intolerance against others in the political space.” You have to let people do their job.
