Who is Ned Middlehurst?
Ned Middlehurst, 21, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday accused of raping a woman after allegedly having s*x with her without a condom when he said he would use protection.
He has also been accused of making a false or misleading statement after he allegedly removed a condom from his package but did not use it.

“The rape charge is obviously incredibly serious,” Middlehurst’s attorney, Sam Norton, told the court.

“From any point of view (the woman) consented to s*xual penetration; the problem from the Crown’s perspective is that she did not consent to s*xual penetration without a condom.”
Middlehurst represented Australia in sport climbing at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
She is expected to face court again on April 27.
