Who is Nicholas Skylar Lucas ?
A mother of nine children was killed while looking out the back window of her South Carolina home as a neighbor, who was allegedly drunk, was shooting at targets in her backyard, authorities said.
Kesha Luwan Lucille Tate, 42, fell to the ground and died after a bullet struck her in the chest as she walked to the window to see what was going on when she heard the sound of gunshots, the Coroner’s County Coroner said. Cherokee, Dennis Fowler, per Associated Press reported.

Nicholas Skylar Lucas, 30, who lives in the house behind Tate, was charged hours later with manslaughter and shooting under the influence. He was taken into custody, Cherokee County deputies said.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday around 6:30 p.m. m. in Gaffney, South Carolina, the area known as the ‘Peach Capital of South Carolina.’
Kesha Luwan Lucille Tate, 42, died when a bullet hit her chest after walking to her window after hearing gunshots, Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said, according to AP.
Nicholas Skylar Lucas, 30, who lives in the house behind Tate, was charged hours later with manslaughter and shooting under the influence. He was taken into custody, Cherokee County deputies said.

Family members said Tate had just gotten off the phone with her own mother and was about to help one of her younger children prepare dinner. As she looked out the back door window to see where the shots were coming from, she dropped to the ground.
The last words she spoke to her, as she lay dying: ‘Go get help. I love you,’ reported WYFF4 News.
Markia Tate, a family member, said: “They had to literally take the children from her mother.”
The loved one said Tate had children as young as four.

Months before the tragedy, family members said Tate expressed concern about frequent gunshots in the area where her house identification was located.
There are approximately 30 houses located in close proximity to each other, according to one report.
Loved ones said the proud mother died surrounded by her children, who were in the house at the time of the shooting, but no one else was hurt.
Tate’s mother was distraught, clutching a photo of her daughter, she cried: “I thought he was going to bury me,” she said, in part.
Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said, “It’s mind-boggling that a person thinks it’s okay to practice target shooting or shoot a gun near so many other houses in a neighborhood,” he said.
Lucas faces up to five years in prison if he is charged with involuntary manslaughter and up to two years for the misdemeanor shooting under the influence charge if he is convicted.

On Tate’s Facebook profile, she wrote that she is single and ‘the mother of any blessed team of 11’.
One of her daughter’s Traleekia Tates created a GoFundMe to raise money for her mother’s funeral expenses. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than $3,600 had been raised toward their $6,000 goal.
