Robert Maudsley Biography
Robert Maudsley, 68, is being held in a private underground cell below the general population of HMP Wakefield, after killing four men between 1974 and 1978.
Al Liverpudliano, who killed child molesters and a murderer of a wife, was told this week that he will be imprisoned in his “glass box” until he dies.
It came after prison bosses ruled that he was too dangerous to mix with prisoners and guards at the West Yorkshire jail, the Daily Star reported.
A source told the newspaper: ‘Last month they told him no, but he appealed the decision and wanted to spend Christmas in the presence of other humans. But they have told him no for the last time.
Being alone for so long does something to you. It’s not right and they can’t risk what it can do.
Murder
The convicted murderer, from Toxteth, Liverpool, committed his first murder in 1974, at just 21 years old.
He killed John Farrell in Wood Green London, after showing Maudsley photographs of children he had s*xually abused.
He turned himself in to the police and was deemed unfit to stand trial, and was sent to Broadmoor Hospital, home to some of Britain’s most violent prisoners.
Maudsley generally didn’t get into trouble during his early years behind bars, before he and his fellow inmate David Cheeseman locked themselves in a cell with child molester David Francis in 1977.

They tortured Francis to death before hanging his body for the prison guards to see.
Maudsley was convicted of murder and sent to HMP Wakefield.
In 1978, Maudsley strangled and stabbed Salney Darwood, 46, who had been jailed for killing his wife.
Who actually am I a risk ?
“As a consequence of my current treatment and confinement, I feel that all I have to wait for is psychological breakdown, mental illness and probable suicide.
‘Why can’t I have a parakeet instead of the flies, roaches and spiders that I currently have? Do I promise to love it and not eat it?
‘Why can’t I have a television in my cell to see the world and learn? Why can’t I have music tapes and listen to beautiful classical music?
“If the prison service says no, then I ask for a simple cyanide capsule that I will gladly take and the Robert John Maudsley problem can be solved quickly and easily.”
The Justice Ministry said it does not comment on the cases of individual prisoners.
