Who is Silfredo Castillo Martinez ?
A Bronx daycare worker has been arrested on child pornography charges after he was allegedly found with images of a child he was supposed to care for.
Police said Silfredo Castillo Martinez worked at Lina’s Garden Day Care for more than a decade and was arrested for possessing multiple images depicting child pornography.
Suspect
Computer crime investigators suspect that Castillo Martinez has been trafficking child pornography since July 2011, when he began working at the center.
He lives in the same building as the daycare, state records show, with the capacity to care for 12 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years, as well as four other school-age children.
One of the alleged victims appearing in the video footage in Castillo Martinez’s possession was a 12-year-old boy who attended daycare, authorities said.
‘It’s disgusting. I trust him. I really did. I am amazed. My children have been in his nursery for years,” a father with children at the center told The Daily News. ‘My son really loved him. He was in his after school program, in the back. All the children in the nursery loved him.
Arrested and Charged
Police said one of the day care’s charges was a victim – and released Martinez’s mugshot as they investigate whether he had any other young victims.
He was charged with promoting a s*xual performance by a child, and possessing a s*xual performance by a child, authorities said.

A handwritten note now hangs on the front door of the center, declaring that it is temporarily closed.
His license was suspended May 5 and he is being held on $300,000 bond or $100,000 cash bond.
He was in charge of the children in the back. Up to this point, it was the best childcare program we’ve ever had,’ he added.
The parents’ children were interviewed by the Administration for Children’s Services but do not believe they were involved.
Officers accused Castillo Martinez of promoting and possessing a s*xual performance by a child.
Winnie, a daycare search site, says Lina’s Garden Daycare’s license is “currently inactive, under renewal, or no longer in use.”
