Sofiia Karkadym Biography
Who is Sofiia Karkadym ?
A Ukrainian refugee who was abandoned by her British lover was arrested after trying to break down her front door while yelling: ‘I love you, Tony!’
Police were called and found Sofiia Karkadym, 22, in the bushes after she made a desperate attempt to retrieve security guard Tony Garnett, 30.
But Tony, who made headlines when he left her couple and children for IT manager Sofia after they welcomed her into her family home when war broke out in Ukraine, refused to answer the door.
Sofia had allegedly been told by police to stay away after Tony called officers to an earlier raid on Saturday night when he told her that her four-month relationship was over.
She left the house they had previously shared but returned last night when neighbors heard her yelling at Tony outside her and she dialed 999 for her after she repeatedly kicked the door.
Officers arrived in two vehicles with flashing blue lights, but she scaled a garden wall and disappeared into the night.
Police are said to have searched local gardens and streets with torches before finding her hidden in nearby bushes in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
She was escorted away by two officers as she yelled, ‘Tony, I love you. Please come with me.’
After being taken away for questioning, Ella Sofia was released without charge.
Tony revealed that the reasons for the disputes between him and his ex-girlfriend included the fact that he had had a vasectomy and was unable to have children with her.
He added: ‘I feel terrible seeing Sofia crying and screaming.
“The police asked me several times on Monday if I wanted them to press charges against her.
But I told them I didn’t want to be prosecuted. He wanted them to give him some help.
“The police told me that they had been warned not to come to my house or to contact me.
“But within a few hours he contacted me from his laptop. He had blocked his number so he couldn’t reach me on the phone, but he started texting me.
‘I ignored the messages, and then she suddenly appeared at the front door and was kicking and screaming.
‘I’m glad the neighbors called the police because I was scared. And also the other two Ukrainians who had stayed with us.
“She wasn’t going to leave, and I told her that she needed to get ready and that I was going to put my two children first before her.
‘They are the most important thing in the world to me.
‘I was trying to have a conversation with her. I tried to tell her that our relationship was over, but she was screaming and screaming and crying. I didn’t dare open the door for him.
Previously, Tony had packed Sofia’s belongings in black garbage bags ready for her collection, saying that he would leave them for her if she told him where to take them.
Lorna reacted to the news that her ex-partner had split with her Ukrainian girlfriend, and she reportedly told her friends, “I wouldn’t have him back in a million years.”
But a friend said: “Lorna has been very hurt by all this, but she is strong and her attention has been completely focused on the children, they are her whole world now.”
‘There’s not a part of her that wants him back, he’s ruined everything.’
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Tony revealed the end of her relationship with Sofia, saying: “I’m 100 per cent done with her.” We are done as a couple.
He recounted how she had become “fed up” with what he described as her irrational behavior during the four and a half months they were together.
He said: ‘I can’t take her abuse or her anger any longer.
‘I left Lorna and my two children for her, and went out of my way to help her keep us together.
‘I worked very hard to make this relationship work. I knew we would look like idiots if we broke up because we have a media profile and all the attention that has been given to us on television and on the Internet.
‘I also really felt sorry for her. She left her home and her country that was at war and didn’t know anyone here.
‘Yes, I felt and thought that I was in love with her. But there’s a side of her that I can’t take anymore of her. She gets angry and aggressive.

He claimed: ‘On Saturday night she took a knife and stabbed the wall several times.
“She really scared me and I had no choice but to call the police. That doesn’t make me happy at all. But I was worried about my safety.
The fight occurred when the other two Ukrainian refugees, Sofiia Rastorhuieva and her boyfriend Illia Tronevych, were staying with the couple.
They had moved in with Tony and Sofia after she saw a desperate call from them on Facebook asking for accommodation.
The heavily tattooed Tony added: “I made a mistake getting into a relationship with Sofia.
‘Like I said before, my relationship with Lorna was over and I was really unhappy.
But this was not the right thing for me. I have tried to help her. I really have
“I have not abandoned her and have even been messaging her mother to help me with the help of Google Translate.
‘She may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. But she is from Kyiv, where there has not been much war.
‘I hope she finds a safe place to live and that she is in a happier place. But she is not for me.
Tony, who received a barrage of online abuse over his relationship with Sofia, said that he would soon be looking for a new home and that he, too, would be separated from the other Ukrainian refugees.
He said that Sofia had sent him a series of messages since the raid, saying that she loved him and begging for a reconciliation.
But he said that he had told her that he didn’t want her back, saying that he had already given her ‘chance after chance after chance’.
Tony also accused her of “ruining” her 30th birthday.
He claimed that he told her that she would contact the local council and the Home Office to try to have her rehoused.
Tony and Lorna first took Sofia in after she applied to be part of the government’s refugee scheme because they wanted to help people fleeing war-torn Ukraine.
But Tony grew impatient with the time the process was taking and joined Facebook groups where Ukrainians were looking for sponsors.
He contacted Sofiia through one of the groups and she arrived in the UK on May 4 and went to live with him and Lorna and her daughters aged three and six.
He recounted how they ‘just clicked’ and immediately understood each other very well, in part because she could speak Slovak, which is similar to Ukrainian.
The couple began conversing in a language Lorna didn’t understand, staying up to watch TV after she had gone to bed and going to the gym together regularly.
Both said that although they “got along very well” at the time, “it was nothing more than that” and “innocent”.
But they ended up ‘looking for excuses to touch and rub’ and things became tense in the house.
Tony said that he would come home and find the meals cooked by Sofia, who would tell him how “lucky Lorna was to have him”.
Lorna was so angry about the situation that she finally asked Sofia to leave the family home only ten days after her arrival.
But she was surprised when Tony told her: ‘If she goes, I go.’
The new couple ended up moving in with Tony’s parents before finding their own place and beginning the process of applying for a permanent visa for Sofia.
Tony said at the time, “I’m so sorry for what Lorna is going through, this wasn’t her fault and it wasn’t about anything she did wrong.”
Sofia added: ‘As soon as I saw it I liked it. It has been very fast but this is our love story. I know that people will think ill of
