                                  Vincent Buccino Biography

Who is Vincent Buccino ?

A lifelong New Yorker who had a chair thrown at him by a maniac outside a Hell’s Kitchen pizzeria said he is now afraid to go out at night.

Vincent Buccino, 64, was sitting outside Amore Pizza Cafe on West 58th Road and Ninth Avenue and was on the phone after taking a late-night stroll through his neighborhood when a caller yelled “Bitch!” and randomly he threw the chair at his head.

Buccino, a retiree suffering from hypertension and kidney disease, blocked his head and dropped his phone, giving his attacker the chance to run away with him. Buccino, meanwhile, ended up with a damaged forearm.

“It’s going to change my life,” Buccino told The Post from the Manhattan rehab center where he is recovering. “I just have one concern now, going out at night. I will never be on my phone again. It was like a real, really horrible animal factor happening.”

The Sept. 9 assault, caught on video released by police this week, occurred around 10:30 p.m. Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned man, last seen wearing a blue shirt and black and white checkered sneakers.

Vincent Buccino remembers how the suspect came here “out of the blue” and pointed a chair at him.

Attacker

“It just seems like it came out of nowhere,” Buccino said of his attacker. “I just look and see someone grab a chair, and they just knock it over. It was like the way he threw it, like a baseball. He was aiming for my head.”

Buccino was taken to Mount Sinai West, where he had surgery on his arm. Despite the pain and hours of physical treatment, he said he’s lucky the chair didn’t hit his head.

“If he had hit me in the face, I might not survive that,” he said. “I couldn’t have survived that with the injury to my arm.”

When he returns to Hell’s Kitchen, Whelk will think twice before taking another ride.

“That’s my neighborhood, so I’m not going to walk around like I used to,” he said. “That’s all going to change.”
