Who is Wade Cox Lemon ?
A Utah hunting guide was accused of illegally baiting during a 2018 bear hunt paid for by Donald Trump Jr.
The longtime outdoor professional allegedly used oil, grain and even cake to attract the animal, which Trump Jr. later shot and killed. He also reportedly used dogs to surround the bear, both common tactics used to hunt the species but illegal in the area in which the hunt was taking place.
Arrested and Charged
Wade Cox Lemon, 61, was charged with “wanton destruction of protected wildlife,” which is a third-degree felony. The charge stems from a hunt on May 18, 2018, according to court documents.
The state wildlife department said it received information about a pile of “grain, oil and cake” left behind by the hunting party that day.
Wildlife agents responded and confirmed that the half-eaten bait was left in front of a camera bearing Lemon’s initials and phone number.
The witness said the hunting party, which included the president’s eldest son, was also using dogs because they found the straw with which they lined their cages on a nearby road.
The bear in question was registered with the local wildlife agency that same day.
“The end of the hunt is recorded, showing the bear surrounded by a pack of hunting dogs before the customer shoots and kills the animal,” prosecutors wrote in the charging document. “Utah law prohibits luring bears to a bait station and then pursuing the animal with dogs.”
State law makes it illegal to ‘possess or use bait or other attractant to take protected wildlife that is prohibited by this title or by a rule, proclamation or order of the Board of Wildlife.’
Trump Jr., who is a famous hunter, was confirmed by multiple investigations as Lemon’s client that day.

Trump Jr. was there that weekend to launch a hunting advocacy group called Hunter Nation, as well as a super PAC called Hunter Nation Action.

Lemon’s Facebook page confirmed Trump Jr.’s presence that weekend, saying, “We’re proud to call you a friend and thank you for all you do for hunting and Americans.”
