Who is Willie Junior Maxwell II?
The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, will now face a minimum of five years in prison for his involvement in the drug ring. He was previously charged with conspiring to distribute hard drugs, including cocaine and heroin.
The much talked about bust saw the feds who arrested Maxwell walk away with several bricks of the substances containing the drugs, but the synthetic opioid fentanyl, a dangerous substance 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, as well as $1.5 million in cash.
Charged

Earlier, two other members of the alleged drug ring arrested along with Maxwell, Robert Leonardi and Anthony Cyntje, also pleaded guilty to the same charges, which are detailed in an indictment filed in September, weeks before the raid.
The others were charged in connection with the October drug arrest, including a New Jersey corrections officer.
All six face one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances, and all of the defendants except Maxwell also face firearms charges.
No sentencing date has yet been set for the defendants.

Maxwell, who is a native of and currently resides in Patterson, was not present at the Long Island residence during the Oct. 28 raid on Long Island, but was arrested that day while attending a music festival at Citi Field in Queens.
An indictment would later allege that the New Jersey-born entertainer was actually a drug lord, with prosecutors insisting he was a ‘kilogram-level redistributor’ who moved hundreds of kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine. .
“As alleged, the defendants transported, distributed and sold more than 100 kilograms of deadly and addictive drugs, including heroin and fentanyl, on Long Island, knowingly contributing to the opioid epidemic that has devastated our communities and taken too many lives,” said Brookyn U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement, citing the four kilos of fentanyl seized from the residence.
Arrested
He was arrested in 2017 for drunk driving, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment after being caught drag racing on a Brooklyn freeway.
In 2019, the rapper was arrested after allegedly assaulting three employees at a Las Vegas hotel.
In October 2020, his 26-year-old brother, Twyshon Depew, was shot and killed in his hometown of Patterson in an alleged gang-related incident.
Last year, his 4-year-old daughter, Lauren Maxwell, died of cardiac arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat, due to complications caused by congenital heart defects.
However, his first federal drug charges came as part of the coast-to-coast operation, according to federal officials.
They say the group bought cocaine, heroin and fentanyl in California and mailed it or drove it in hidden compartment vehicles across the country.
Maxwell supplemented her recording artist’s income with drug money obtained through the illicit operation, prosecutors wrote in the rapper’s indictment.
