Who was AJ Rosen ?
Olympic Luger AJ Rosen tragically passed away at the age of 37 after a “fierce” battle with cancer.
Rosen competed in the Turin 2006, Vancouver 2010 and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
He also achieved the best result of a British athlete in a Luge World Cup, finishing sixth in the 2008-09 season.

Death
Announcing his death on Twitter on Sunday, Luge GB wrote: “It is with great sadness that we announce that Team GB Olympic treble AJ Rosen passed away this morning after a fierce battle with cancer.
“AJ was not only one of GB Luge’s best Olympians, he was also the friendliest and most down-to-earth person you could ever wish to meet.”
And British Olympic Association Executive Director Andy Anson said: “The British Olympic Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Adam ‘AJ’ Rosen.
“A three-time Olympian competing in luge, AJ was often the sole representative of his sport for Team GB, but his infectious smile and warm personality made him a highly valued member of any Team GB delegation from which he was part of it.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to AJ’s family, his loved ones, and his friends and sports colleagues.”

GB Bobsleigh and Skeleton also reacted to the devastating news with their own short statement.

He said, “We are deeply sorry to hear this devastating news. Everyone here sends our love to AJ’s family and friends and to all of you in the GB Luge community.”
And a host of tributes came to Rosen, who was described by the BOA as “one of the warmest and friendliest people.”
Skeleton Olympian Ben Sandford said: “It’s terrible to hear that, such a lovely guy. I always enjoyed catching up with him on tracks around the world. RIP AJ.”
One social media user said: “I am so sorry to hear this news. I met AJ at my first Games in 2006 … what a gentleman and ambassador of the sport. All who met him will miss him deeply.”
And another added: “Whenever you were around AJ, he would light up a room and always put a smile on your face. We will miss you, my friend! Rest in peace.”
While a third said: “What a great loss. AJ was a fantastic person. Very kind and funny. He will miss you so much, my friend. RIP.”
Rosen announced his retirement from the sled after the 2018 Winter Olympics.
He was determined to make it to a third Games after the disappointment of not making it to Sochi in 2014.
And he did so before choosing to retire from the sport as one of Britain’s great luge athletes.
