Daniel Heritage, 28, died in a fall in the Calgary Rockies on Wednesday, just months after setting out on the journey of a lifetime with his wife Emma.

Ms. Heritage has been documenting her hiking vacation on Facebook with dozens of photos showing her husband swimming, rock climbing, hiking and enjoying picturesque views of Canada’s mountains.

Her twin Jessica Bartel revealed that her sister had witnessed her husband’s accident and had held him in her arms when he passed away, but the exact circumstances have not been revealed.

Daniel Heritage, 28, was tragically killed in an accident in Calgary, Alberta, just months after setting out on the journey of a lifetime with his wife Emma.

His father has now flown to Canada to support his grieving daughter, who is currently staying with friends he met on his travels.

Ms. Bartel said that Daniel was one of the most ambitious people she had ever met and that she had felt particularly close to him because she and her sister are twins.

“He felt like my brother long before they got married,” Ms Bartel told The Advertiser.

‘One of the things she loved most about him was the way she cared for others.

You always felt listened to by him.

The couple loved nature and planned adventures on long weekends and had built a house in the Adelaide suburb of Valley View before leaving.

Ms Bartel said nothing was out of reach for her brother-in-law  who would go to any lengths to help a loved one achieve their goals.

The latest photos uploaded from his dream vacation show Mr. Heritage climbing a frozen waterfall and watching the sun set with wild deer in Sundance Canyon.

The couple, who recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, had planned to stay in Canada for two years before the trip was tragically cut short.

A GoFundMe page is raising funds to cover funeral costs and fly Ms. Heritage’s father to Canada, where he will support his daughter during the painful flight home.

He has surpassed his $10,000 goal with over $18,000 raised in just 24 hours.

We would greatly appreciate any support to help alleviate the financial costs associated with traveling so suddenly and to support families with funeral costs and other expenses,” Ms. Bartel wrote in the campaign.

We wanted to thank everyone for their kind words, love, and support so far during this difficult time.

“Please continue to pray for Emma and our families as we navigate this lifelong pain.”

Friends took to Facebook to share their grief at the passing of Mr. Heritages.

“It’s hard to put into words how much this hurts, how much we will miss you, how cruel life can be,” her friend Melissa Swinbourne wrote.

Daniel was living a dream adventure with his wonderful wife and now we need to help bring him home and help Emma with whatever life throws her from now on.

‘Miss you forever Danny Heritage.’

Another friend, Monique Rice, said Mr Heritage was taken too soon.

‘He was my sisters best friend, loving husband and adventure buddy,’ she said.

‘Sadly taken from us too soon and I would be incredibly grateful and humbled for any support people can give.’
