Investigation
However, investigators from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office revealed the disturbing final message her mother sent to her daughter before she was found dead, alleging that she was being held against her will.
Collier, who lived in Athens, Georgia, sent her daughter Amanda Bearden a total of $2,385 on Venmo with the heartbreaking message: “They won’t let me go, I love you.”
Bearden, 36, tried to call his mother after receiving the cryptic text message, however, she did not answer the cell phone.
That’s when her daughter reported her mother missing to the Athens Clarke County police.
Police have said the disturbing statement Collier sent to her daughter may suggest a violent kidnapping was involved before she was found dead.
They are treating the case as a homicide, rather than a suicide, reports 11 Alive.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Colonel Murray Kogod said: “Further search resulted in the location of a female body on an embankment near where the bag and tarp were found.

During the investigation, police discovered that Collier had rented an SUV on September 10 and left her home with only his debit card and driver’s license.
They were able to track the location of the car thanks to her SiriusXM satellite radio, which took them 60 miles north of her home in Athens, Georgia.
Collier’s body was then tragically found in a ravine near the road exit where the vehicle was discovered on US 441 near Victory Home Lane.
Her mother’s devastated family was informed when authorities began investigating her cause of death. Footage shows investigators combing the scene where her body was found, reports Now Habersham.
The autopsy will be performed by a forensic doctor.
Debbie, who married her husband Steve in 2013, worked as a front desk manager at Carriage House Realty in Athens for many years.
Steve said that he last saw his wife at 9 p.m. the night before she disappeared on September 9.
