A senior at Newton North High School has been identified as the driver who was killed in a two-car crash in Needham that caused both vehicles to flip.


The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday at Forest St. and Rolling Ln. area, according to Needham police.

Authorities said 18-year-old Dylan Newman was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Police have not yet released the conditions or the identity of the other driver.


According to WCVB, Newton North High School Principal Henry Turner said in a statement to the school community: “Dylan Newman was a beloved member of the Class of 2023 and previously attended Bigelow and Day High Schools and Elementary School. North Ward.

“As we all come to terms with the loss of a classmate, it’s important to realize that death affects each of us in different ways,” Turner continued. “We must expect and accept a range of emotions and behaviors in ourselves and others, ranging from immediate and acute responses to little or no response at all. The cause of the crash is still under investigation and no charges are currently pending
