Who was Elizabeth Holmes?
Elizabeth Holmes, 27, of Paisley, was found by prison guards on August 14 at HMP YOI Cornton Vale while awaiting trial on charges including assaulting a police officer and threatening and abusing.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has advised Police Scotland on the matter.
Police say her death is not being treated as suspicious, but investigations are ongoing.
SPS confirmed that a Fatal Accident Investigation will be carried out ‘in due course’.
“Elizabeth Holmes, 27, a prisoner of HMP YOI Cornton Vale died on August 14, 2022,” the statement said. She was remanded to Paisley Sheriff Court in 2022.
The Scottish Police have been informed and the matter has been brought to the attention of the Public Prosecutor. In due course of it a Fatal Accident Investigation will be carried out.’
A Police Scotland spokesman added: “At 3am on Sunday 14th August, officers were called to HMP Cornton Vale, Stirling, following reports of a sudden death.
‘A 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
‘A report will be submitted to the Prosecutor at the time’.
