                          Isabel Carella Biography

Who was Isabel Carella ?

A Long Island teenager was killed and four others were injured after a Mustang convertible she was riding in swerved, hit a Jeep and flipped, killing her immediately.

Isabel Carella, 17, was a passenger in the car driven by her recent prom date Dominic Crocitto, also 17, on Wednesday afternoon.

In Crocitto’s car ride were 16-year-old Joseph Gibiino and 17-year-old Liam Feeley.

All four were students at Kings Park High School: Crocitto and Carella had attended prom together three weeks earlier.

Crocitto was driving through the village of Commack, less than five miles from his home in Kings Park, when he “got distracted” and swerved, then lost control, according to police.

They said there was no indication drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, and it’s unclear how fast the Mustang was traveling when it crashed.

The car skidded into the path of a blue Jeep driven by Annalize Wilkes, 19, of Commack.

Wilkes was hospitalized after the accident, which left the Jeep badly dented.

But it was the Mustang that came out worst in the collision: it flipped over and landed in a garden.

Gibiino was thrown from the car with a collapsed lung and a broken jaw, his mother Betty wrote on Facebook.

Crocitto suffered serious injuries and Feeley suffered minor injuries.

Carella was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kings Park Superintendent Timothy T. Eagen confirmed Carella’s death and said counseling was available for other students.

“We are tremendously saddened by the events and will do our best to assist you and your child as needed,” Eagen wrote in a message to the school community.

Family

Carella was remembered for her passion for dance.

For the past two years she had been a member of the Sara Jean Dance Company in Smithtown, Newsday reported.

“She was a confident but humble dancer, even though she had very good skills,” said Sara Jean Haas, owner of the dance company.

“She was a very positive girl.”

Carella was remembered as a talented dancer

The Kings Park High School PFA has launched a fundraiser for the family.

“This news is sad and unexpected, and we would like to help the family offset the cost of unavoidable expenses during this time,” they wrote.

‘Issie was a member of Kickline, Chorus and Theatre, among other things.

‘Recently in May, she received the Musical Theater Award for choreographing the dance numbers for our Spring Musical.’

The teenager planned to attend Suffolk Community College to continue her studies.
