The 26-year-old went into cardiac arrest while at Bronco’s Rodeo in Sheffield.

Arrest

His heartbroken family has recounted how he climbed aboard the mechanical bull, set up in a padded wading pool-like area next to the bar, at Bronco’s Rodeo on West Street.

Jessica then fell off the imaginary animal and went into cardiac arrest.

Her mother, Joan, 66, said: “She hadn’t had much to drink. They had actually eaten and called there afterwards.”

“I don’t know why she decided to do it. I guess she was just having fun.

“She had just gone out for the night and then we had the police at the door at midnight.

“We’re still going through it now. Sometimes we still fall apart. It’s been heartbreaking.”

Jessica, who worked as a manager for the Pandora jewelry company, had planned to marry her partner and had “her whole life ahead of her.”

The heartbroken Joan added: “She was such a beautiful girl, so kind and funny.

“He had his whole life planned out. They were getting married.

Death

“She always wrote these fantastic Christmas lists, but that year she only put: a house, a ring and a baby.”

The tragedy rocked the Kimberworth community in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where she and her family are from.

More than 500 mourners attended the funeral and not all of them could fit in the church.

Relatives are now pouring their grief into the campaign for the installation of more defibrillators that could have saved Jessica’s life.

A fundraiser has been set up in her name to help pay for vital equipment.

Joan said: “I went to Rotherham United and the ambulance service was showing me how to use the defibrillator and knowing they were trying to do that with Jessica, it caught my imagination.

“I thought ‘what a brilliant idea’, because we don’t really have any locally.

“It’s important, it’s a matter of life or death sometimes, it can save someone’s life.”

Firefighter Michael says it’s essential to have defibrillators

More than £10,000 has been raised so far and Jessica’s cousin Michael Noone, 47, plans to add to the total by running 26 half marathons in 12 weeks, one for each year of his life.

Firefighter Michael says it’s essential to have defibrillators on hand so that if someone goes into cardiac arrest, they have a better chance of surviving.

He said: “Eventually they got a defibrillator to help Jessica, but there was none on the premises.

“I think there was a nurse at the bar she was at, so she immediately started helping her and eventually they defibrillated her, but unfortunately she passed away that night.”

“I really have been horrible. It was sudden.”

The Bronco’s Rodeo ride appears to still be running and was promoted on the bar’s Facebook page in the run up to Christmas and New Year’s.

The bar has been contacted for comment.
