Mary Mara, 61, was found in the St. Lawrence River by New York State Police and other emergency crews in Cape Vincent.

Death
Police believe Mara drowned while she was swimming, but the investigation is still ongoing and her remains were taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Mara was a Syracuse native living in Cape Vincent at the time of her death.
Career
Throughout her 30-plus-year career, Mara has appeared in more than 20 movies and 40 television shows, including West Wing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Love Potion No. 9.
Mara also played Jill on Lost, Loretta Sweet on ER, and Nance on Shameless.
