Who was Steven Finlay ?
A gay couple in inner city Sydney were heard fighting just before their bloodied bodies were discovered in a boarding house room.
Police were following up on a welfare concern report Saturday night when they found the grisly scene.
Steven Finlay, 52, was found dead and still with his phone in his hand around 11:45 p.m. at the house on Cleveland Street in Redfern, in central Sydney.
Neighbors said Finlay lived in the rooming house and that the other man, Mitch Watson, 32, was Finlay’s boyfriend and often stayed there.
Police found their bloodied bodies
A man who lived next to the couple, who wished to be known only as John, heard them fighting before the room fell silent and police found their bloodied bodies.
“It was like he punched his partner in the wall and I woke up and said ‘what the hell are you doing? Stop,’” he told the Daily Telegraph.
“I heard bang bang bang, then it went silent and the police came. They’re always fighting, I hear it.
John looked into the room when the police were there and saw the dead couple on the floor.

There was blood. lots of blood all on his arm. It seemed that his arm had passed through glass. He had his phone in his hand, you poor son of a bitch,” he said.
Another local said that Mr. Finlay had lived there for some years.
Brian, Finlay’s owner, said he was a “nice guy.”
The police, with the help of the homicide squad of the State Crime Command, are investigating the death of the couple.
No charges have been filed and police have not claimed that anyone else was involved in the deaths.
