Who was Yolanda N’Gaojia?

Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52, died at Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen on March 22, which would have been her son Amir Tajai-Kineh N’Gaojia’s 22nd birthday.


Police in Killeen, which is about 70 miles north of Austin, confirmed that a second victim had “non-life-threatening injuries, and she was treated and released at the scene.”

N’Gaojia’s ex-husband, Kineh N’Gaojia, in a Facebook post said, “I am speechless because I can’t believe this is real.”

“This is something you see in the movies, but it has become our life. I can’t believe you’re gone.

‘How are they going to kill her on her son’s birthday at her grave? GOD… Please help.’


Another son, Q Jones NGaojia, posted a photo with his mother on Facebook, captioned “I love you mom.” Stay with me.’

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 5 p.m. Tuesday, on State Highway 195 in reference to a gunshot victim.

According to an online obituary and Facebook posts by his father, Amir  died on New Year’s Day 2022 at the age of 21.

Police said two victims had been shot when they arrived. Yolanda was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m. m.

According to KWTX, there was a white Chevrolet Camaro with bullet holes lined with yellow police tape at the scene.

The shooting took place at the Garden of Remembrance Cemetery a minute away from Calvary Baptist Church.

N’Gaojia’s ex-husband expressed his grief in a series of social media posts, saying, “My children will never be the same again.” We’re all screwed right now.

In another, he added: “Those bullets took a precious gem from us, but they gave us an amazing angel to guide us so you know we’re going nowhere but up because we know how hard you rode for your family.”

‘Thank you for making our lives complete, we will miss you soldier. WE LOVE YOU. Kiss Amir for me and tell him how much we love and miss him.’

According to an online obituary and Facebook posts by his father, Amir died on New Year’s Day this year at the age of 21. It is not clear what was the cause of his death.

Amir had a criminal record and was arrested in 2020 for allegedly threatening and shooting a family member in a dispute over a video game controller.

At the time of the incident, Amir was out on bail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and police were able to trace him to the residence from a GPS monitoring device he was wearing, the Killeen Daily Herald reported.

On the day N’Gaojia died visiting his grave, Kineh posted that it was Amir’s “first birthday in heaven.”

Kineh told KWTX that he and Yolanda were divorced and have three children together.

Police are investigating the murder and requesting any information about the shooting, which they called an “isolated incident.”
