On October 4, 1953, the medical veteran was born, the son of Chicago Sun-Times journalist Vernon Jarrett and Fernetta Jarrett, with a sibling called Thomas S. Jarrett. William had just been appointed as the new head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Jackson Park Hospital. He also worked as a surgeon and taught at Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan, where he was a resident. Before traveling to Chicago, he named him as chief resident.
He also graduated from Roosevelt University after studying at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine.
