A woman crippled with depression has credited her dog for saving her life.

Naomi Worrall, from Adelaide, is struggling with her mental health and recently took to Facebook to bravely reveal her ongoing personal struggles.

Mrs Worrall, who married diesel mechanic Ian last September, told Daily Mail Australia the bond she shares with her beloved Narla is priceless.

‘She means the world to me, I actually had another dog – also called Narla – who we put down last year when she was 14, she was riddled with cancer,’ she said.

‘My husband and I were going to have a break from owning a dog, but as soon as we met Narla last August, she wouldn’t leave my side, we had an instant bond.

‘We took her home and that was it.’

Mrs Worrall says Narla ‘licks her tears away’ in vulnerable moments before adding her pooch, who weighs 30kg, often calms her when she is feeling depressed as she battles a work injury, she didn’t want to open up about.

‘My husband works long hours, he works in Adelaide (near the CBD) and is out the door at 6.30am before getting home around 6pm,’ Mrs Worrall said.

‘I’m in a moon boot at the moment, so I’m limited in my movement, so the days can be long and drawn out.’

‘Raw post ahead,’ Mrs Worrall wrote on the Bull Arab Owners Australia Facebook page.

‘The last few months I’ve suffered with depression, I’ve only told two people in my life. My husband and my best mate.

‘I’m currently at home on my own for 10 hours a day while my husband is at work and I’m on work cover due to a work related injury.

‘I often find myself in tears throughout the day, not wanting to handle the pain anymore of feeling the way I do.

‘Narla is my first BA (bull arab dog), she has become so emotionally aware of my situation and is such an amazing support.

‘I no longer feel alone because she comforts me, today (Monday) I cried again, she heard and instantly came to me, licking my tears away and didn’t leave me until I had completely calmed down.

‘Yesterday (Sunday) she notified my husband who was in the kitchen, that I was crying and again came and comforted me.

‘I don’t know what I would do without her.’

Mrs Worrall’s frank social post also resonated with many online.

One person commented that the health instructor was ‘so lucky to have her (Narla) in your life. Going through depression is hard, hang in there, things will get better.’

Another stated her ‘two fur kids (dogs) pick her up when she’s ill or down, while a third said ‘my bull arab is very affectionate also. I’d be lost without her.’
