A woman has shared her fears that her partner is cheating on her after finding a receipt for Viagra in his pocket following a night out.

Posting on UK-based forum Mumsnet, the woman explained her partner has difficulties getting an erection because of his diabetes.

She said he claimed he had been out with friends the night before she found the receipt for Viagra in his coat pocket and claimed he only bought alcohol before confessing to having also purchased the medication.

The woman explained that her partner was denying he had cheated – but she insisted ‘he hasn’t been using the Viagra with me’.

Responses to the post tried to reassure the woman that her partner might not have been having an affair – but others admitted they would also be concerned about infidelity if they found out their partner was using the drug.

In a lengthy post the woman claimed that ‘something didn’t feel right’ before her partner left the house to go see his friends.

She wrote: ‘All night I didn’t like how I was feeling so I looked on his Amex statement via Apple Pay (as I also have his Amex sorted on my iPhone wallet). I found that he spent £29.50 in Tesco @ 20:30 but just didn’t know what on.

‘It was coming up to 2:00am and he still wasn’t back and I ended up falling asleep. So I’m not even sure what time he even came in.

‘Anyway I dropped the kids to school and when I got back something told me to look in his coat pocket and I found the receipt/card for Viagra.

‘When I confronted him I asked him what did he buy from Tesco and he said alcohol and I kept asking what else, I then let him know that I knew he brought Viagra and he said it wasn’t the first time, and he uses as his diabetes is getting worse and as I know he can’t get as hard anymore.

‘I said to him well you haven’t been using it with me and how convenient that you brought it that day when you were supposedly going to you friends. He denied that he was cheating (obviously)!!’

A flood of responses to the post told the woman they think her partner is cheating.

One person commented: ‘I would think he had arranged to meet a prostitute. Sorry OP.’

Another wrote: ‘Perhaps it’s the guilt from cheating which is what is making his erections less hard and not the diabetes. I certainly wouldn’t rule out cheating just because of ongoing ED. I’ve seen many posters on here stunned to find out their partner with ED was in fact cheating on them.’

A third added: ‘Well surely just ask him to show you the packet? If he can’t (because some are missing) then throw him out he’s obviously cheating.’

However, others reassured the woman her partner may not be cheating and shared their own experiences of dating men who relied on Viagra.

‘Why do people automatically call affair? OP my H is diabetic. He spoke to his consultant and they prescribed Viagra. He was embarrassed to tell me in case it didn’t work, it did and I found the packet so he confessed.

‘Men have feelings too. BTW my DH certainly wasn’t cheating, he felt useless and wanted to try without raising my hopes,’ one wrote.

Another said: ‘I had an ex who wasn’t able to get hard, he even got Viagra without me knowing and he would go out with friends and drink then take it on the way home in the hope it would work.

‘He never acknowledged he bought it and he could never get very hard even with the pills. Ask him to take one, for you both and see just how well it works. This way you can see the truth for yourself and I bet he doesn’t get properly erect.

‘Also a man who can’t get hard is very unlikely to cheat, very few women want to put it with half measures.’

A third added: ‘Even if he’s taken one or more, that’s not proof he has cheated. It’s not unheard of for men to test it to see if it works before trying it when sex is in the cards. I don’t see how buying Viagra is proof of cheating anyway.’
