He coordinated Thanksgiving food distributions, donated thousands of dollars to high schools, and helped individuals in his Castalia Heights community pay rent and cover funeral costs.
According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, the 32 years old, Smith, was charged with first-degree murder and additional offenses in the shooting who murdered the artist.

Cornelius Smith, a suspect in the killing of Young Dolph, has been arrested. He was being jailed without bond after being arrested last month on an auto-theft warrant involving the vehicle used in Young Dolph’s murder. According to Weirich’s office, the Mercedes was stolen in a carjacking on November 10 at a gas station on Kirby Rd.

According to NBC, police discovered the car on November 20 in the 1100 block of Bradley St. in Orange Mound, three days after the world-renowned artist was murdered down. They got the information from a tipster who stated the murderer used it in the murder of Young Dolph.
Smith was stopped on Airways Blvd., just north of Rasco Rd., near the Dollar General, and arrested for a property crime, according to Southaven Police Chief Macon Moore. He was transferred from DeSoto County Jail to Shelby County Jail on Tuesday, January 11.
Police To Provide Updates On Shooting Involving Cornelius Smith
On Wednesday, a joint press conference will be held to communicate further updates on the shooting incident involving Cornelius Smith to the public. U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller, Memphis Police Chief C. J. Davis, and Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich will be present at the conference.
